Mei opened the door and grabbed her bag. Her father stepped out of the car and as soon as he reached the grass, she focused on it and it grew taller, and wrapped around his feet and legs. As soon as it was a good length, Mei broke off running hearing her father call after her, his fall, and his string of curses. She ran past a girl around her own age who arguing with an old woman, who was most likely her grandmother. Mei yelled "I'm free, I'm fre---" then she crashed into something or someone, dropping her bag and falling to the ground, where she slid across the grass leaving a a huge grass stain on her leg. She heard someone laughing, most likely at her, she looked up. Nope, it definately was not this woman.

"Go to the office!" The woman hissed at her, while glaring at Mei with her brown, almost black beady little eyes.

"What for?" Mei asked, her tone curious, yet a little challenging, She did not take to being ordered around lightly. A scowl starting to farm on her lips.

"Let's see," The woman growled, while planting her hands on her hips. "Disruption on the school yard, attempted escape from the school." And with a small smile the woman added. "If you keep it up like this your school year won't be so pleasent."

Mei's dad caught up to them, he opened his arms as if for a hug. "Bye Mei." he said a twinge of regret echoing in his voice. Mei turned away from him going towards the office. He wasn't going to get a hug, he wasn't sorry that she was stuck here. She could feel the earth stir beneath her feet as if ready to follow an order or do her bidding. Mei calmed herself no need for anything rash.

When Mei arrived outside the office, she read the spraypaint writing. 'Most powers are taken for granted.' Mei scoffed, and opened the door. The secretary looked up as she walked in and cocked an eyebrow at her. "Take a seat in the chair over there." she gestured to a row of hard plastic chairs.

Mei grumbled a string of curses as she tried to get comfortable in the plastic chair. The secretary glared at her.

The door burst open and the woman she had crashed into came in escorting a girl who protested. "I haven't done a thing."

The woman looked at her. "Oh really? Then why is there a charred student outside?"

"Struck by lightning?" she said lightly.

"Sure." The woman said sarcastically. "I'm so sure."
